What does this product do?

It enables the ability to easily obtain the dynamic IP address of PCs logged onto the UNIX server. This greatly simplifies determining what PC various FineLine PC software packages should open on when using dynamic IP addresses or when users switch between PCs.

How does it work?

It provides both UNIX and Windows software that works in conjunction with any PC terminal emulator that supports "pass-through" execution of a Windows command (support for a few popular emulators is "built-in" to this product, with an option to enter custom support for other emulators).

What is an example of possible use?

If you run any software that requires the IP address of a connected PC and you are using a VPN and/or dynamic IP addresses, this software enables maintaining a list of IP addresses (and additional information) for the connected PCs. For example, many of our PC software products require the IP address of the PC to contact from UNIX.  This product provides the ability to easily provide that IP address in environments that don't employ or have access to static IP addresses.

What is the software requirement?

This package requires that all PCs logging onto the UNIX system use a PC terminal emulator that supports "pass-through" execution of a Windows command (check your documentation for information about specific emulators). Currently supported emulators include: FacetWin, TinyTERM, ICE.TCP and Anzio.
