Version History

02.01.00

  • Support for Authenticated SMTP server
  • Few small enhancements and adjustments

02.00.00

  • A much more robust mail server engine
  • New POP mailbox maintenance program (flmail -pm) enables accessing a mailbox on the Internet interactively. Now you can view and print message headers or entire messages, and delete any combination of messages without having to download them to your system. This is an invaluable tool when problem messages clog your mailbox.
  • New auto-cancellation of messages to invalid e-mail addresses and auto local mail re-delivery avoids mail backup.
  • New 'clean' command intelligently removes any leftover temporary files.
  • Improved SMTP program senses when queued messages are already in progress, eliminating the possibility of duplicate outgoing messages.
  • The special features of version 1.5 are now standard in 2.0 - namely, the ability to attach files as MIME BASE64 from a prompt, and the powerful auto-attendant function (enables automatically detaching an attachment and running a specified UNIX command to process the file).
  • The scheduler will now automatically restart in the event the system is shut down while the scheduler was processing mail.
  • Incoming messages with attachments forwarded to the postmaster due to an invalid address can now be forwarded to the proper user with the attachments intact.
  • New command line PC-compatible return-receipt option supports a read receipt (versus a delivery receipt).
  • New junk e-mail filter options add even more flexibility in weeding out bothersome and often inappropriate unsolicited messages. Also, a new 'save to file' option adds the ability to re-route certain messages to a different folder file.
  • Totally re-written 'domail' command eliminates leftover lockfile issues and adds the option of receiving status messages only when an error occurs.
  • New 'flmail -log' command displays the last 'domail' log.
  • A multitude of smaller enhancements
